History of E-Mail at Genoa Schools
- Prior to 2002, Genoa Area Local Schools utilized an e-mail system through Northern Ohio Educational Computer Association (NOECA).
During the 2002 - 2003 school year, the staff was introduced to Novell's GroupWise.
- August 12th, 2011 with the opening of the new Genoa Elementary School, All GroupWise e-mail accounts were migrated to Microsoft Exchange 2010 e-mail system. Microsoft WebApp was utilized as the first web based e-mail program giving users access to e-mail from any Internet connection including mobile user support.
- In July of 2017, Microsoft Exchange accounts were migrated into Google's G-Suite for education providing users with access to the district's G-Mail system. The Google G-Suite bridges the gap between e-mail and calendar access to data storage access. This also, for the first time in school history, provided access to e-mail for student in grades 6 through 12.
